I spent the second half of May working on some oil landscape paintings, each exploring different techniques. Precipice (18”x 24”x 1.5”, unframed) uses color and texture differences to portray a small figure amidst the thrilling glory of nature.
Precipice. Oli on canvas, 24” x 24” x 1.5” (unframed). $400
It starts at the top (40”x 30”x 1.5”, unframed) places a painted frame around a scene that contrasts lush ground foliage against towering but bare trees. It features a large depth of field, with a waterbody in the middle distance and leafy trees in the far distance. The title hints at environmental and political degradation.

Armageddon (36”x 18”x 1.5”, unframed) is also a vertically oriented landscape. At an early stage, it seems to depict a landscape of massed trees and mountains under a big sky. Then I added small human-like figures in varied hues, and then another layer of thinned paint, yielding the scenario of the title.
